[[abstract]]A series of methoxyethoxymethyl (MEM)- and methoxymethyl (MOM)-ethers and MEM-esters were hydrolyzed to their corresponding alcohols and carboxylic acids by a catalytic amount of CBr4 (10%) in iPrOH under refluxing reaction condition.
