The papers from this special issue of Options Méditerranéennes analyze land transitions in three Balkan countries: Romania, Albania and Greece. They examine the cultural, social and political context of this phase of reconstruction of private property, after the radical land reforms of the 20th century and the interactions between populations and resources. They show the legacies and the resurgence of customs in the representations and practices and the weak land governance capacity. The analyses are based on recent empirical research aimig to pointing complex realities and their dynamics.
