The Power of Theatre

One of the colossal issues our society faces today is the lack of educational funding. An even more extensive and underrated problem within that category is the lack of available research and travel funds for art programs. A solution to this issue not only relies on the recognition for art students’ financial need but additionally their need to personally benefit. Unlike most departments, Theatre heavily relies on personal growth and networking for the success of the students. Financing trips for auditions or conferences is a major issue theatre students face. In the past, theatre students have attempted to work with their theatre fraternity, Alpha Psi Omega, to raise funds by utilizing their craft; however, they have yet to receive enough donations to aid all of the pupils. Nevertheless, students can avoid the sacrifice of attending auditions or conferences by utilizing non-stem travel study-related scholarships. In turn, this will allow students to gain academic insight from professionals and professors, recognize how they could grow as an individual after receiving feedback from audition adjudicators, and take advantage of the academic and professional connections they have the opportunity to develop
