This paper aims at discussing the contributions of a historical case about Marie Curie for supporting pre-service teachers’ reflections about Nature of Science (NOS). The historical case was drawn in the light of Allchin’s (2013) ideas about contextualised and functional nature of science teaching. The activities based on the case were developed in a class of Chemistry pre-service teachers from a Brazilian public university. All the lessons related to the application of the activities were audio- and video-recorded.
