The aim of this work was to evaluate the sacrifice stages of bovine in a Tipo Inspección Federal (TIF) abattoir, to determinate the degree of animal welfare employing the World Organisation for Animal Health protocols. The variables considered were: number of slips,falls, vocalizations, electric shock, knockout time, correct stunning (number of shots), bleeding time, rhythmical respiration, tonic or clonic spam and palpebral reflex from 135 bovines from different regions of South Sonora. Results in both unloading and corral áreas of the abattoir are favorable according to the NOM‐051‐ZOO‐1995 normativity.
