Aufgrund ihrer speziellen Eigenschaften können sogenannte eisnukleierende Partikel die Bildung von Eis in Wolken katalysieren. Laboruntersuchungen zum Gefrierverhalten dieser Partikel haben sich als wertvoll erwiesen, wenn es um das Verständnis zugrunde liegender Prinzipien und Mechanismen geht.
