Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) is a serious pregnancy complication, caused by maternal antibodies against fetal red blood cell (RBC) antigens. These antibodies may provoke fetal hemolysis, resulting in fetal anemia, hydrops, and even death if left untreated.1,2 HDFN is most frequently caused by antibodies with anti-D specificity, followed by anti-K, anti-c, anti-E, other Rh antibodies, or exceptionally, anti-Fy (Duffy) or anti-Jk (Kidd)
