Si (2) Jamroji, S.Sos, M.Comms Keywords: communication, culture, ethnicity, harmony Communication is one of the human activities that everyone recognizes.As a social creature and a personal being, man has two interests namely, (1) personal interest because of every human nature has personal affairs and (2) social interest because human beings are not detached from interaction with others to Achieve a social (joint) agreement.Intercultural communication is also not easy, if the communfishes and communicators have a strong ethnic background such as ethnic Javanese and ethnic Banjar.This is where the utility interested in intercultural communication with ethnic Javanese and ethnic Banjar in maintaining harmony between ethnic.The purpose of researchers is to learn and study the intercultural communication patterns of ethnic Javanese and ethnic Banjar in maintaining harmony between ethnic. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive type. There are five subjects of each ethnic who play an important role in intercultural communication pattern research.The research instruments are used with interviews, observations, and documentation.Data analysis techniques use Miles and Huberman models (data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion withdrawal) and validity tests using source triangulation. The results of the study gained that intercultural communication patterns in maintaining interethnic harmony were to understand the opponents while communicating, addressing problems by communicating well.And appreciate the ethnic existence other than Java and Banjar, such as ethnic Bugis, Dayak, Batak, Sunda, Baduy, Betawi, and many more ethnic in Indonesia.Respecting the culture of an ethnic person is our way of maintaining the harmony between the ethnic itself
