PENGARUH POLA ASUH ORANG TUA TERHADAP CAPAIAN AKADEMIS (IPK) MAHASISWA FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH MALANG ANGKATAN 2017

Background: Parenting is a pattern of parental behavior applied to children that is relative and consistent over time. Parenting has three different types : authoritarian, democratic, and permissive, each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Parenting system has a big influence on children's development. The Democratic type has a good prognosis compared to the other two, while permissive type is the worst. In this study, the parents’ parenting style is believed to have an influence on academic achievements. Purpose: To determine the effect of parenting on student’s academic achievement (GPA) of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Malang academic year 2017. Research Method: Analytical observation with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. The instrument used was the questionnaire, “Parenting Styles On Academic Performance”. The data was analyzed statistically by Chi Square test. Finding and Discussion: The 138 students sample was divided into 50.7% authoritarian parenting, 43.5% democratic parenting, and 5.8% permissive.
