Abstract Besides the amplitudes of a measurement signal, the phase provides an additional important access point for understanding electrophysiological systems. With evaluation of the phase values and their temporal behaviour, physiological and pathological insights can be gained providing driving contributions for the functional and differential diagnosis. Many conventional phase estimation methods used to determine the temporal behaviour need high calculation capacities or lead to a lot of restrictions.
