In dieser Arbeit wurde die hybridogene Entstehung von Hundsrosen, ihre Schwestergruppen innerhalb der Gattung Rosa, die Vererbung morphologischer Merkmale in Hundsrosenhybriden und die Interaktion mit Rostpilzen untersucht. Die allopolyploiden Hundsrosen setzen sich aus Genomen von Vertretern aus Nicht-Hundsrosen-Sektionen und einem in rezenten diploiden Rosen nicht vorkommenden Ur-Caninae-Genom zusammen. Die Schwestergruppen dieser Ur-Caninae gehören zu den Sektionen Synstylae, Indicae und Rosa. Die taxonomisch bedeutsamen morphologischen Merkmale: Griffelkanaldurchmesser und Kelchblattpersistenz werden im Widerspruch zur Matroklinie der Hybriden, bedingt durch die Canina-Meiose, paternal vererbt.
