Abstract This thesis describes the design process of mechatronic systems based on the VDI guideline 2206. The specifics of the micromechatronic design process are repesented under functional and geometrical aspects. In addition to the VDI 2206 universal design rules, guidelines, and principles for the micro range are derivated. Compared to electrostatic actuators magnetic actuators are not often used. In order to make magnetic actuators reluctance smaller in scale, scaling regulations are derivated. Partielly, magnetic mini- and microactuators have larger forces considering larger displacements compared to electrostatic and piezoelectric microactuators.
