Activities performed by transnational corporations are provoking violations against both human rights, and environmental rights, leaving many countries in a state of vulnerability. A number of denouncements and decisions, issued at international arbitrage courts, have insisted on the necessity for the creation of a set of guidelines relating to human and environmental rights in transnational companies. These rulings would like all members of the United Nations to commit themselves to drafting a legally binding instrument, addressing these issues, to cover transnational corporations and other business enterprises.
