Caring for elderly dependents is a sensitive problem for the State, responding to demands that the family can not undertake. We analyze the perceptions of caregivers from the Tarapaca region, Chile, their needs for the execution of the visualized care and ways to satisfy them. A qualitative design is used with semi-structured interviews. The results, observed under the Max-Neef approach, show subsistence and protection needs, as ways to satisfy conceived from a logic of supporting the caregiver, idealizing ways to satisfy focused on state actions.
