Síndrome de Tourette: Una propuesta de investigación

Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (TS) is a chronic neuropsychiatric disease of movement characterized by the presence of combined motor tics and, at least, one vocal tic for a minimum period of 1 year. It usually begins in childhood (before 18), so it involves a number of problems in school age. This is why it has been pointed out the importance of studing how the integration of children with ST can be improved through different therapies and treatments. Therefore, the main objective is to propose a research program that allows us to study the influence of different types of therapy in the improvement of learning of children with TS. For all of this, we have proposed this therapy in which we have studied, mainly, two factors to take into account: the physical one, understood as the motor and vocal tics and intervened by pharmacological treatment, and the cognitive one, understood as the problems of attention, concentration and memory which it intervened with behavioral therapy. A sample of 384 youngs diagnosed with ST of school age (11-18 years old) is proposed to participate in the following research. Four groups of 94 participants will be formed: Control group, experimental group with access to pharmacological treatment, experimental group with access to behavioral therapy and experimental group with access to pharmacological treatment and behavioral therapy. The evaluation is proposed using the psychometric tests: the Weschler-IV Test, the Yale Global Tics Severity Scale, the BRIEF-2 and the Wisconsin Card Classification Test. Thus, this will try to know which of the two factors has more weight and influences more in learning. Some limitances in accessing the sample and a the need for the involvement of schools are some of the most important limitations of this proposal.El síndrome de Gilles de la Tourette (ST) es una enfermedad neuropsiquiatría crónica del movimiento caracterizada por la presencia de tics motores combinados y al menos un tic vocal durante un período mínimo de 1 año. Por lo general comienza en la infancia (antes de los 18 años), por lo que supone una serie de problemas en la edad escolar. Es por ello que se ha señalado la importancia de investigar cómo puede mejorar la integración de los niños con ST a través de diferentes terapias y tratamientos. Por lo tanto, el objetivo principal consiste en proponer un programa de investigación que permita estudiar la influencia de diferentes tipos de terapia en el aprendizaje de niños con ST. Por todo ello hemos planteado esta terapia en la que hemos estudiado, principalmente, dos factores a tener en cuenta: el físico entendido como los tics motores y vocales e intervenido mediante el tratamiento farmacológico, y el cognitivo entendido como los problemas de atención, concentración y memoria e intervenido con la terapia conductual. Se propone una muestra de 384 jóvenes con ST en edad escolar (11-18 años) para participar en la siguiente investigación. Se formarán cuatro grupos de 94 participantes: Grupo control, grupo experimental con acceso a tratamiento farmacológico, grupo experimental con acceso a terapia conductual y grupo experimental con acceso a tratamiento farmacológico y terapia conductual. Se propone la evaluación mediante los test psicométricos: El Test de Weschler- IV, el Yale Global Tics Severity Scale, el BRIEF-2 y el Test de Clasificación de Tarjetas de Wisconsin. Así, de esta forma se va a intentar conocer cuál de los dos factores tiene más peso e influye más en el aprendizaje.
