In the present work we analyze through the historical-critical study of the sources and the examination of previous doctrinal contributions the different legal, administrative and fiscal situation of the originarii coloni and of the adscripticii. In the middle decades of the IV century the originarii coloni are tied perpetually and hereditarily to the cultivated land, contributing to a change in the tax system, under which the taxable amount of the capitation is stablished increasingly in proportion to the units of land and the fiscal responsibility is moved to its owner.
