Seduction and death involve the breakdown of the established order, each revealed as a guilty offender that manages profoundly to alter events. In the pages of naturalistic novels, the clinical gaze of the writer does not overlook the destruction of nature, represented through illness and death, or the destruction of the peculiar artifice of seduction and its staging. Indeed, both elements are united, in the consideration of taboos, as concepts somehow relegated to denial by oversight in almost all spheres of thought (Aries 1983; Baudrillard 2008).
