The author did not designate his task as a literature survey. He also believes that documents, articles and books in Turkish are the primary sources in any publication on Turkish Politics. In writing on current developments in Turkish politics, the author thinks that to utilise press reports is the best method; and the reader can be assured that the reliability of such information has persistently been questioned, checked and cross-checked. As far as the author knows, historians as well refer to the daily press in their researches, and what the present article attempts to do is to replicate the same method in a contemporary context
