The presence of foreign women in Italy is particularly relevant in communities originating from Eastern European countries. This presence is destined to increase in the near future. Eastern European women are particularly numerous in the Adriatic regions, mainly because of spatial proximity. This kind of mobility is also reinforced by the EU development programmes favouring cooperation among all the Adriatic regions. The phenomenon is relevant enough to justify the existence of an Adriatic modelChieti-Pescara metropolitan area represents well this model.
