Militer autrement ?

This article describes the emergence of the Altermondialist Movement in Turkey and its development as a social movement. Our goal is to propose a model to better understand those proclaiming Altermondialism as well as their demands and campaign strategies. In doing so, we seek to contribute to the study of social movements in Turkey as well as to the understanding of the Altermondialist Movement in its global dimension. The seamless functioning and novelty of the Altermondialist movement has pushed the limits of Turkish militancy both operationally and ideologically. The national dimension and basis for any Turkish social movement is confronted by the overwhelming influence of the transnational. Even so, the local context remains the basis for social movements. Whether in France or in Turkey, interaction between the local and the transnational is necessary for the continued effectiveness of the Altermondialist movement. Without such interaction, the movement risks failure as the information and activities are limited to a narrow circle of qualified activists and intellectuals.Cet article met en lumière l’émergence de l’altermondialisme et son cheminement vers un mouvement social en Turquie. Notre objectif est de proposer des pistes pour la compréhension tant des acteurs se réclamant de l’altermondialisme que des sujets de revendication et des campagnes menées. Ce faisant, nous voulons contribuer à l’étude des mouvements sociaux en Turquie mais aussi de l’altermondialisme dans sa globalité. L’altermondialisme, par son fonctionnement souple et sa nouveauté, pousse le champ militant turc à une transformation à la fois idéologique et opérationnelle. Les paramètres nationaux comme bases de tout mouvement social turc se heurtent à l’influence prépondérante de l’espace transnational. Toutefois, le contexte local constitue encore le socle des mouvements sociaux. Que ce soit en France ou en Turquie, l’interaction entre le local et le transnational est indispensable pour l’efficacité de l’altermondialisme. Sinon, la cause risque de s’enfermer dans un cercle limité aux militants professionnels, qualifiés et à haut capital culturel
