Ce livre présente une traduction en anglais de l’ouvrage fondamental d’Isidore de Séville (560-636), les Étymologies, véritable dictionnaire encyclopédique qui devint, après la Bible, le texte le plus consulté tout au long du Moyen Âge. Cette nouvelle traduction est proposée avec, en appendice, la correspondance d’Isidore et de Braulio et se fonde sur l’édition de W. M. Lindsay publiée en 1911.
