A database of votive arms provides an opportunity to investigate whether conventions of dedication resulted in a pattern that favored certain deities, and if so, whether such patterns were correlated to gender. The majority of excavated sanctuaries where arms were found belonged to goddesses. Correcting statistically for the possibility that goddesses simply have more sanctuaries, we find no significant differences by gender in the numbers of sites with individual weapons types, but male deities have more sites with hoplite arms. Athena has a larger share of sites overall and sites with miniature arms, while Apollo and Zeus have a larger share of sites with hoplite arms.
