The main characters of M. Bulgakov’s fantasy tales (Fatal Eggs and Heart of a Dog, 1925) are two scientists who manage to achieve outstanding results, even if the consequences of their daring experiments end up being dramatic and dangerous. There are two levels of narration: reality and fantasy; real and metaphorical-philosophical, which are closely linked together. Thanks to the use of grotesque, real life is more phantasmagorical than any wildest dream, while the fantastic dimension is perceived as a real possibility. These works are full of satirical elements, where important ethical questions in science are dealt with. Those are issues that remain relevant even today
