La Campanie archaïque, espace de frontières entre Grecs, Étrusques et indigènes ?

La Campanie archaïque a souvent été analysée comme une zone frontière des mondes grecs, étrusques et phéniciens. On commence par présenter les débats historiographiques sur l’analyse spatiale du monde grec, entre une vision centre-périphérie et un monde en réseaux. Les exemples archéologiques de Pithécusses et de Calatia permettent ensuite d’analyser dans le détail la complexité des processus à l’œuvre, entre interactions culturelles et stratégies aristocratiques. Le thème de la frontière permet ainsi de mettre en évidence les enjeux liés au tournant historiographique récent, tout en soulignant les limites de notre compréhension de ces phénomènes, notamment en dehors des élites et de leur riche mobilier funéraire.Studies about archaic Campania often presented it as a frontier zone, where Etruscans, Greeks, Phoenicians interact with local populations in a peaceful way. This article will study the historiographical debate concerning the spatial analysis of such an area, since the traditional periphery center model has been recently seriously challenged by the use of the network theory. Two archeological examples will then be discussed, Pithekoussai and Calatia. The existence of multiples cultural interactions between the populations can be seen through the study of some graves. Those graves, however, mostly belong to members of the élite. Studying the archaic Campania through the “frontier” framework highlights the limits of the “network turn”, and shows that the interactions may mostly have concerned members of the élite in each society
