The goal of this Bachelor's thesis is the identification and description of changes in the use of the vampire motif in the works of selected Czech authors from the turn of 19th and 20th century. In the introductory chapters there are general information about the vampyrism phenomenon, which answer the questions such as where does it comes from or how the idea is fixed in human consciousness. Then there is description of the cultural and literary context with a focus on the decadence. The attention is focused both the classical representatives of this period and less- known authors whose literary activity is associated with application of the vampire motif situated around year 1920.
