The Specifics of Psychotherapeutic Approaches in the Treatment of Depression

The bachelor thesis is focused on specifics of selected psychotherapeutic approaches in the treatment of depression. The first chapter of a literary-overview section defines diagnostics, epidemiology, etiology and risks of depression. The focus of the literary-overview section lies on six chapters dealing with particular psychotherapeutic approaches (cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, interpersonal therapy and humanistic therapy). For each approach, a way of working with a depressive client is described, as well as its empirically demonstrated effectiveness and evidence-based mechanisms of change. In the end of the literary-overview section there are summarized interfaces and specifics of all approaches in the treatment of depression. The research proposal is focused on mapping the use of ten change principles by Czech psychotherapists of cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic and humanistic approach in the treatment of depression. It is quantitatively oriented mapping research. Its first aim is to assess whether some change principles are used more in the treatment of depression than in case of other difficulties.
