Family from the perspective of children growing up in a children´s home

This bachelor thesis deals with the perception of family by children living in a children´s home. The theoretical part sums up the basic terminology related to the family. The importance of family in one´s life is emphasized in this chapter, the author also explains and describes the principles of substitute family care, she deals with laws related to the institutional care. In the practical part, the results of a qualitative research are presented. The semi-structured interviews were conducted in the research, the participants of the interviews were children from the same children´s home. The objective of the thesis was to find out what children from a children´s home think about family, how they think it should look like, how it should function. Also, it examines children´s opinion about having a family of their own
