Recent measurements in QCD, soft physics, and heavy flavor made with the CMS detector at the LHC are presented. A selection of first results at the new frontier collision energy of 13 TeV at LHC Run2 is shown. The collision environment is characterized by studying charged particle distributions and correlations. Inclusive jet, exclusive dimuon and b-hadron production cross-section measurements are reported.Peer Reviewe
