End-functionalized polystyrene with both perfluoroalkyl group (Rf) and phenol unit were precisely synthesized by a living anionic polymerization and the subsequent end-functionalization reaction. Then thin polymer films were applied for UV-irradiated condensation of the phenol units in order to fix Rf groups at the top of the film surface. Formation of high molecular weight compounds derived from condensation reaction was comfirmed by GPC measurement. Moreover , such condensation reactivity was found to depend on the chemical structure of phenol unit bonded to polymer main chain
