This paper presents a low-profile cavity-backed helical element. The effects of the cavity diameterand height on the antenna characteristics are discussed. The frequency response of the antennacharacteristics is also revealed using frequencies within the Ku band. The low-profile cavity-backedhelical antenna is a candidate for use as a feed antenna for a parabolic reflector
