Fortuna y traducción de las relaciones acerca del Lejano Oriente en España y Europa. Aproximación textual y léxica al Discurso de la navegacion... (1577) de Bernardino de Escalante y sus versiones inglesas (1579, 1745)

The article focuses on Bernardino de Escalante’s 1577 treatise on the Portuguese exploration of the Far East and China and its English versions (Frampton 1579 and Osborne 1745). The aim of this essay is studying how information about China spread across Europe in the Modern Age thanks to Spanish publications. To reach our objective we carried out a textual analysis based on two levels, i.e. a structural level and a lexical level, in order to ascertain the active role of the translator(s) in contributing to the circulation of technical and scientific knowledge throughout Europe.El presente trabajo presenta una aproximación textual y terminológica al "Discurso de la navegacion que los Portugueses hazen à los Reinos y Provincias del Oriente, y de la noticia que se tiene de las grandezas del Reino de la China" (1577) de Bernardino de Escalante y de su traducción al inglés por John Frampton, publicada en Londres en 1579 y reeditada posteriormente, con alguna añadidura, por Thomas Osborne en 1745
