The Sarashina Diary (Sarashina nikki), probably written sometime around 1060, is a memoir by Sugawara Takasue no musume (the daughter of Sugawara no Takasue) a lady-in-waiting of Heian-period Japan. Unfortunately, this work, one of the most representative of Japanese classical literature, until recent times has not been adeguately studied in Italy and in Europe where we can find a few essays about it, sometimes only a brief critical introduction to the translations.
