This project concerned Dr. Vincent Winstead\u27s research into developing viable electronic valve timing for diesel engines in an effort to improve the engine-out emissions and fuel economy of the world\u27s motor vehicle fleet. The project was limited in scope to the design of a prototype, development of a viable methodology to create and test the prototype, and prototype testing. The presentation includes information describing the theory of operation, the testing methodology, and test results. The electronic valve was tested for the amount of valve lift generated under variable applied power.
