Current literature on sexual fantasies suggests that the erotic imagery is a product of gender socialization. Yet past and current research focused mainly on heterosexual women and men. The purpose of this study was to assess the sexual fantasies of women who self-identify from a variety of sexual orientations. The research sample was women enrolled at Minnesota State University, Mankato, who were selected via convenience sampling. Data was collected through use of a double-blind sampling approach and questionnaire. The research analyzed the content of the collected sexual fantasies in terms of the degrees of sex scripting evident, which result from gender socialization.
