In today\u27s workforce, millions of dollars have been spent on training leaders. Some leader development programs focus on motivating employees, which is a primary objective of managers and supervisors of companies. For employees, motivation is tied to satisfaction, and leaders can help improve both. This connection is vital considering that if employees feel and satisfied with their job or career; they are more willing to exert the effort needed for the organization to become successful. Recent statistics have also shown that Americans job satisfaction ratings are falling fast over the past ten years. This may mean that Americans are going to work simply to earn a paycheck, not necessarily enjoying what they do for a living. Dissatisfaction also may contribute to other problems outside of work. By using positive motivational methods, leaders can help reduce this problem of dissatisfaction at work. This research describes the current state of the literature regarding how leaders motivate others.
