When viewed from the aspect of its relationship to other biological fields of either a pure or applied science nature or when taken only as associated with an avocational program, an understanding of the problems of classification of plants and animals is highly essential. Specialists in other fields of biology need not be expert taxonomists but the ability to readily handle some simple classification problems is very desirable and may spare one some awkward embarrassments. Collecting and classifying some group of nature\u27s highly interesting creations appeals so strongly to many that some instruction in handling classification keys may well be included in courses of training for leisure time activities
