Abstract Appendix Background: Bipolar Disorder and Postpartum Psychosis are serious conditions in pregnancy with implications from both illness and treatments for poorer pregnancy; neonatal and longer term developmental outcomes. Relapse rates without treatment are high and choice of treatment important to both keep women well and ensure minimal impact on offspring. Objectives: This paper will present both literature on the natural course for Bipolar Disorder and for Postpartum Psychosis in pregnancy and the early postpartum, treatment options and risks/benefits and management recommendations.
