AI3SD Semantics & knowledge learning for chemical design workshop report 2019

This event was run by AI3SD and was designed to explore the different aspects of using semantic web technologies in the chemical space, and to promote discussions about why these technologies are so important and the different ways in which they can be used. The event was a full day, hosted at the Solent Conference Centre in Southampton. The programme was made up of a number of presentations, starting with the importance of provenance of data and a history of the semantic web over the last 20 years with some details of where we are now. The event then progressed to some more specific talks about using semantic web technologies in the chemical domain, to make predictions and to model different aspects of chemistry in ontologies. These presentations were all run consecutively so it was possible to attend each talk, and the final order of the day was an expert panel made up of the speakers. There was plenty of time for networking, as there was both a lunch and drinks session included as part of the day
