Social university challenge: developing pragmatic skills for social networking in future managers

Teaching networking skills to graduates of business has been addressed in recent research. The advent of social networking technologies reshaped the balance between technical and traditional networking competencies. We draw from the categories of traditionalist views on networking positions: socio-affective, pragmatic and context contingent and focus on the pragmatic skills. The paper attempts to identify the pragmatic skill set which future business managers need to have for future employment and successful entrepreneurship. The paper will be further developed by gaining a qualitative insight into the students' perspective on the social networking competencies they need for successful professional career after their graduation
