Picturebook is usually the first kind of book that a child encounters. Thus, it is important to explore the possibilities it offers to provide children with quality reading material that engages young readers in different ways to help them develop their literary competence. This thesis gives an overview of research on interactive aspects of picturebooks that affect the reader’s interpretation of a story engaging him/her on a physical or intellectual level.
