The article presents the short history and directions of development of the library at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Silesia. It points out the most interesting and most crucial collections i.e. M.K. Neustein’s collection and professor J. Szydlowski’s. The article draws attention to the fact of coexistence of the traditional library and new techniques of sharing information
