Scholarly fields are meant to be dynamic to accommodate newinformation that is infused with old. One of these areas is thenotion, subject, subfield and process of street culture. Despite thefrequency of its usage in the social sciences, urban planning, andselected areas of the visual arts, rarely is the term street culturedefined and when it is, the definitions are often conceptuallylacking. This article synthesizes current ideas about the study ofstreet culture by examining six major questions that street cultureresearchers currently grapple with. The article outlines suggestionsfor improving scholarship in this field
