GAMBARAN PERILAKU MENYIKAT GIGI DAN ABRASI GIGI PADA MAHASISWA ASRAMA GALUH CIAMIS JAWA BARAT DI YOGYAKARTA

Background:One of the factors which influence dental and oral health of people in developing countries is tooth brushing behavior. It becomes an important thing affecting the status of dental health of both individuals and the community. The result of the Basic Health Research 2013 shows that at the age of 18-24, there is a tendency of performing incorrect tooth brushing behavior, which is as many as 78.2%. The incorrect tooth brushing behavior may cause the opening of dental roots due to thetransfer of the gingival margin bond from cementoename junction to the apical position, which results in dental abrasion. Purpose of Research:To find out the description of tooth brushing behavior and dental abrasion of students in Galuh Dormitory of Ciamis-West Java in Yogyakarta. Research Method:The research used a descriptive research design with a cross sectional type of research. The population was all students in Galuh Dormitory of Ciamis-West Java in Yogyakarta. The sample technique used saturated sampling. Data analysis used tabulating. Result:Students in Galuh Dormitory of Ciamis-West Java in Yogyakarta had tooth brushing behavior including in medium category (51.7%) and experienced dental abrasion including in low category (82.9%). Conclusion:Students in Galuh Dormitory of Ciamis-West Java in Yogyakarta had tooth brushing behavior including in medium category and experience dental abrasion including in low category (51.4%) Keywords: tooth brushing behavior, dental abrasion, student
