The topic of the PhD thesis deals with the construction of advanced numerical approaches for the simulation and optimization of mechanical structures with complex geometry. It focuses on the Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) technology which has received much attention of the last decade due to its increased flexibility, accuracy, and robustness in many engineering simulations compared to classical Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
