Quality of bean seeds stored in silo trench at the small farm

This work aims to evaluate the efficiency of storage in silo trench of Phaseolus vulgaris bean seeds. Four bean seed lots were used with four different moisture contents: 9.6; 9.9; 12.6; 13.2% and kept in a silo trench for a storage period of six months. Samples were taken at zero, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 days to evaluate the physiological quality of the seeds tested by standard germination, accelerating ageing and field emergency. There was not significant loss in standard germination for the four seed moisture contents during the six-month storage period. Accelerating ageing and field emergency showed a greater loss in physiological quality of the two lots with higher seed moisture contents. On the other hand, the other two lots that presented lower seed moisture content preserved physiological quality during storage.Sem bolsaEste trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a eficiência do silo trincheira para o armazenamento de sementes de feijão da espécie Phaseolus vulgaris. Foram utilizados quatro lotes de sementes de feijão com quatro diferentes graus de umidade 9,6; 9,9; 12,6; 13,2% e armazenados em silo trincheira por um período de seis meses. Com amostragens ao zero, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180 dias, a qualidade fisiológica das sementes foi avaliada através do teste de germinação, envelhecimento acelerado e emergência em campo. O teste de germinação mostrou redução de qualidade fisiológica dos quatro lotes ao longo de seis meses de armazenamento. Os testes de envelhecimento acelerado e emergência em campo evidenciaram uma redução maior na qualidade fisiológica para os dois lotes com graus maiores de umidade, enquanto nos outros dois lotes, com menores graus de umidade, houve preservação da qualidade fisiológica
