Antibody level against African swine fever virus in the blood of wild boars hunted in Latvia

Āfrikas cūku mēris ir vīrusa izraisīta letāla slimība, kas skar cūku dzimtas (Suidae) pārstāvjus (Golnar et.al. 2019). Āfrikas cūku mēra vīruss ir vienīgais Asfivirus ģints pārstāvis (Vizcaino et. Al., 2019). Latvijā pirmo reizi konstatēts 2014.gada jūnijā (Schulz et.al., 2019) un piecu gadu laikā izplatījies gandrīz visā valsts teritorijā. Darba mērķis bija noskaidrot vai Latvijas mežacūku populācijā attīstās dabiskā imunitāte pret Āfrikas cūku mēra vīrusu. Tika izmantotas laboratorijas metodes, lai noteiktu antivielas un to līmeni mežacūku asins paraugos, kā arī vīrusa relatīvo daudzumu šajos pašos paraugos. Analizējot iegūtos rezultātus secināts, ka palielinās seroprevalence Latvijas mežacūku populācijā, t.i., palielinās to nomedīto mežacūku skaits, kuru asinīs tiek konstatētas antivielas pret Āfrikas cūku mēra vīrusu. Pie augsta antivielu titra (>1/81000) vēl aizvien tiek konstatēts ĀCM vīruss. Paraugiem ar relatīvi lielu vīrusa (ĀCMV) daudzumu (Ct 1/81000) vēlams veikt papildus sekvenēšanu uz II genotipa apakštipiem. Pētījums veikts no 2017.gada oktobra līdz 2019.gada aprīlim Pārtikas drošības, dzīvnieku veselības un vides zinātniskajā institūta „BIOR” Dzīvnieku slimību diagnostikas laboratorijā.African swine fever is a virus-induced fatal disease affecting the Suidae family (Golnar et al. 2019). The African swine fever virus is the only representative of the genus Asfivirus (Vizcaino et. Al., 2019). For the first time, it was detected in Latvia in June 2014 (Schulz et.al., 2019) and during five years spread in nearly the whole country. The aim of the study was to find out whether the wild boar population in Latvia is developing natural immunity to African swine fever virus. Laboratory methods were used to detect antibodies and their titre levels in wild boar blood samples, as well as the relative amount of virus in the same samples. Analyzing the results, it is concluded that seroprevalence increases in the Latvian wild boar population, i.e., the number of hunted wild boars with antibodies against African swine fever virus is increasing. At high antibody titre (> 1/81000), the ASF virus is still detected. For samples with a relatively high amount of virus (ASF) (Ct 1/81000), additional sequencing on subtypes of genotype II is desirable.
