Pasión, terror y cuerpos en Venezuela: Bosquejo para una nueva lectura de la Guerra de Independencia (1810-1814)

In this article we will take a emotional journey of the first four years of the process of the Venezuelan War of Independence(1810-1814). Our approach will be against the grain of the story of the official historiography, offering an analysis of these elements of understanding of the past: first, the role of collective emotions as forces mobilizing social practices; second, enhancing terror as the joints of ideological and political confrontation; and third, the echo of bodies amid the social fear, important in understanding the suffering endured by our ancestors axes. The article opens, finally, the ability to affectively read the Venezuelan past; but also establish the need and the challenge of lifting archival documents these emotional cleavages still waiting for future historians.En este artículo haremos un recorrido emocional de los primeros cuatro años del proceso de la guerra de independencia venezolana (1810-1814). Nuestro acercamiento se hará a contrapelo del relato de la historiografía oficial, ofreciendo un análisis de estos elementos de comprensión del pasado: primero, el papel de las emociones colectivas como fuerzas de movilización de las prácticas sociales; segundo, el terror como potenciadora de las coyunturas de confrontación ideológica y política; y tercero, el eco de los cuerpos en medio del miedo social, ejes importantes a la hora de comprender el sufrimiento padecido por nuestros ancestros. El artículo abre, en fin, la posibilidad de leer afectivamente el pasado venezolano; pero también, entablar la necesidad y el reto de sacar de los archivos documentales estos clivajes emocionales que aún esperan por los futuros historiadores.
