In this article I wish to discuss the opinions that Baron Anthony Sherley (1565-1635?) held about his own country and which are to be found in his work Peso político de todo el Mundo, dedicated to the Count-Duke of Olivares, where he presents a whole programme for modifying the foreign policy of the Spanish monarchy. The author goes back to the reign of Henry VIII to explain the introduction of Protestant heresy in his country, but most of his commentaries refer to the reign of James I.
