Bipartisanship, which had dominated the Spanish political landscape for decades, began to disappear in the European Elections in 2014. This trend was consolidated in the Regional and Local Elections in 2015. However, the role played by communication in the new media when explaining the change within the political sphere has not been substantially examined. In other words: did the emerging parties adapt better to the new forms of communication, so they could connect with the citizens in a more effective way?
