The war in Syria is now in its ninth year. It all began in 2011 as another movement of the so-called Arab Spring after the protests in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya that resulted in the overthrow of their respective leaders who had eternalized in power. Everyone thought that the Syrian leader Al Asad would be next, but what at first seemed a matter of weeks or months resulted in a generalized conflict that has shaken the stability of the whole Middle East. The internal crisis that followed the Syrian movement was exacerbated by the formation of armed groups opposed to the regime, reinforced by military defections. All of them integrated the Free Syrian Army (ESL) that fought hard battles against the government forces and when these seemed defeated, the support of Iran and the Lebanese militia Hezbollah managed to stabilize the fight. However, the irruption of new actors was going to internationalize the conflict. The appearance of the self-proclaimed Islamic State and of al-Qaeda-like jihadist groups led to the participation of Russia, Kurdish forces, Turkey, a US-led coalition formed by Arabic and European countries and Israel. The last purpose of all of them is to ensure that the conflict ends and the situation to stabilize, but each one tries to take advantage of it according to their own interests.La guerra de Siria cumple ya su noveno año de duración. Todo comenzó en 2011 como un movimiento más de la llamada Primavera Árabe tras las protestas en Túnez, Egipto y Libia que dieron como resultado el derrocamiento de sus respectivos líderes que se habían eternizado en el poder. Todo el mundo pensó que el mandatario sirio Al Asad sería el siguiente, pero lo que parecía cuestión de semanas o meses derivó en un conflicto generalizado que ha hecho estremecer la estabilidad de todo Oriente Próximo. La crisis interna que siguió al movimiento se agudizó con la formación de grupos armados opositores al régimen reforzados con deserciones de militares. Se conformó lo que se llamó el Ejército Sirio Libre (ESL) que libró duros combates con las fuerzas gubernamentales y cuando todo el mundo pensaba que el final del régimen estaba cerca, el apoyo de Irán y de la milicia libanesa Hezbolá consiguieron estabilizar la contienda. Sin embargo, la irrupción de nuevos actores iba a internacionalizar el conflicto. La aparición del autoproclamado Estado Islámico (EI) y de grupos yihadistas afines a Al Qaeda, propiciaron la participación de Rusia, de fuerzas kurdas, de Turquía, de una coalición liderada por Estados Unidos (EE. UU.) formada por países árabes y europeos y de Israel. La finalidad de todos ellos es lograr que el conflicto finalice y la situación se estabilice, pero cada uno persigue sacar ventaja de ello según sus propios intereses
